Some information about Pseudomonas Aeruginosa bacteria:

- To identify the right antibiotic, laboratory tests are needed on a sample, often called a 'culture'.
For certain types of multi-drug resistant Pseudomonas Aeruginosa, treatment options are limited.
What are the risks for a person infected with Pseudomonas Aeruginosa?
- Infection of the blood leading to: fever, chills, muscle and joint pain;
- Lung infection leading to: chills, fever, cough, shortness of breath;
- Skin infection leading to: skin redness, skin abscess formation, skin lesions;
- Ear infection that leads to: swelling, ear pain, itching, discharge, hearing difficulties.
Some information about Escherichia coli (E.coli) bacteria:
- It lives in the intestines of humans and animals;
- Most types of E.coli bacteria are harmless, at worst causing mild diarrhea;
- But certain types of E.coli, such as O157:H7, can cause severe cramping, severe diarrhea and vomiting;
- You can be exposed to E. coli, both through contaminated water and contaminated vegetables; Other sources of contamination: swallowing pool water, person to person, undercooked hamburger;
- Healthy adults generally recover in about a week after infection with E.coli O157:H7;
- Young children and the elderly can develop kidney failure, which can be life-threatening.
Private wells / boreholes / wells are a cause of great concern because many people do not have a way to disinfect water. Particularly in Romania, houses have been built without sewage, the owners have to use a septic tank. In many cases, this sewage from the septic tank ends up in the ground and subsequently contaminates the water from the borehole/well.
