Where do we use and for what?

GAC can be used in conjunction with automatic filters or filters with Big Blue, Spartan Blue or other types of fillable canisters. 

The applications of activated charcoal are multiple:

- chlorine removal for residential, commercial and industrial areas;
- removal of organics, chlorine, trihalomethanes, benzene, chloroform, herbicides, pesticides, etc (over 90 chemicals are filtered by GAC).

GAC operating conditions:

*The feed water must be free of oils or suspensions
*The feed water must be free of iron and turbidity for the longest possible running time
* pH range: works smoothly over a wide range
*Bed width: 20 -30 inches
*Flow rate: 5 gpm/ sq.ft
*Flow required for backwashing: 10 - 12 gpm / sq.ft. (for automatic filters)
*Space for charcoal bed expansion: 30 - 40 % of bed depth (for automatic filters)

Precautions in use:

Do not use with microbiologically unsafe water. Do not use with bacteriologically contaminated water!
